Lyft Drivers To Get First Dibs On The Chevrolet Bolt

PHOTO GALLERYLyft drivers in the United States are set to become the first to receive the all-electric Chevrolet Bolt During the World Mobility Leadership Forum last week, Lyfts director of transportation, Emily Castor, confirmed the news to USA Today saying that "Drivers on the Lyft platform will be receiving Bolts to drive first."It was previously thought that the first deliveries of the Bolt could go to Lyft after General Motors invested $500 million in the ride-sharing service earlier in the year.The Bolts going to Lyft drivers wont be purchased from the automaker however.Instead, they will be available for rent on a weekly basis in a number of cities such as Detroit, Boston, Washington D.C and Los Angeles by the end of the year.Currently, Lyft drivers can rent the Chevrolet Equinox, Malibu, Volt and GMC Terrain from General Motors.Powering the Bolt is a high capacity electric motor with 200 hp and 266 lb-ft (360 Nm) of torque.This motor is joined by a 60 kWh battery pack developed by LG, allowing the cut-price Bolt to travel up to 238 miles (383 km) on a single charge.
